(SPOT.ph) Mutya ng Pilipinas and other glamorous local beauty pageants that use the word "mutya" in their titles have inspired the name of a new Barbie doll. Mattel took a very refreshing take on their dolls with its Global Glamour Collection. Part of the collection is the "Mutya" Filipina Barbie doll designed by Carlyle Nuera. Doll collectors, act quick. There are only 4,400 pieces of the $100 doll being sold worldwide.
Mutya means "pearl" or "beauty" or "muse." The morena, dark-haired Barbie doll is dressed in an organza terno embellished with embroidered floral design inspired by sampaguita, the national flower of the country. It also comes with shoes, a pair of gold-toned earrings, a necklace, a bracelet, and a golden lace fabric fan, all inspired by Filipino culture.
