(SPOT.ph) When it comes to makeup or beauty products in general, you have what you deem to be your "holy grail". You know what we're talking about, that one product in your collection—that may or may not have reached cult fave status—that you always go back to for a variety of reasons. It can be because of how it applies to your face or body, the formulation, or perhaps a specific color or shade that is so flattering, it looks good on everyone you know.
If you're lucky, chances are your go-to is still available for purchase—but what if it gets discontinued? You probably hoarded every available one you reached in stock or tried to save as much of what you had. That's pretty much the case with local brand Happy Skin and a lipstick shade called Honeymoon Glow, one that slowly dissappeared from store shelves. Worry no longer if you've been looking for this holy grail: the mauve pink lipstick is back with a new formula to boot.

Here's what's new with Happy Skin Honeymoon Glow:
A new version in the form of the Lip Cloud lipstick is now on shelves and official online stores. The 2023 version retails for P599 and comes as a bullet lipstick in push-button packaging that makes sure that the cap won't accidentally remove itself inside your bag. To compare, the OG Shut Up and Kiss Me crayon lipstick retailed for P499 upon release, eventually becoming P649.
Now you may be wondering, is it the same Honeymoon Glow lipstick that we came to know and love? For the most part, yes. We managed to get our hands on the new version and compare it to the original formula (just don't ask how we still have a lipstick that's over five years old).
Both lipsticks claim to be moisturizing despite being a matte formula, however Lip Cloud swipes and swatches more smoothly than Happy Skin's original lippie. A key ingredient that is also in the Lip Cloud is hyaluronic acid—which wasn't a popular ingredient to use in beauty products in 2014—and gives your lipstick a slight sheen when applied to your lips, giving it a hydrated look.
In terms of packaging, the Lip Cloud weighs a total of 3.8g which is 0.3g heavier than the crayon-style lipstick. While it sounds like you'll be getting more product, you may want to factor in that Lip Cloud's packaging contains more metal than the original. It even looks like the original Shut Up and Kiss Me lipstick has even have more of the actual product when placed side by side a newly opened Lip Cloud.
You also need to keep in mind that while you no longer have to worry about staining the inside of your bag, this new packaging isn't exactly easy to use. While the concept is good, being able to use the lipstick when you're in a rush might no longer be feasible as you'll need to tug on the cap a bit in order to separate the part which holds the lipstick. The lipstick also tends to stick at the top of the cap if not closed correctly.
Still, the Lip Cloud version is something you ought to buy if you're being nostalgic about the shade and want to keep on using it after all these years. After all, mauve pink is a timeless shade and the new formula allows you to keep up with the current beauty trend of having a more dewy and semi-matte finish. Just be careful with how you close the cap and you're good to go.
For the uninitiated, Honeymoon Glow was a shade that local brand Happy Skin released in 2014. It has a mauve-pink hue that's flattering to most skin tones and was first released as a crayon-style lipstick. Due to its popularity, Happy Skin has launched an entire collection revolving around the shade in 2018 called the Honeymoon Glow collection which featured an eye palette, cheek palette, lip tints, and even a nail polish. They also included the popular shade in their Lip Mallow line of products that were released in 2020.
Happy Skin's Lip Cloud retails for P599 and is available on the Happy Skin website, Lazada, and Shopee.
