Yet despite having practically half of your face covered, no one can stop you from going all-in when it comes to makeup. More specifically, in giving you kissers some lovin’, nevermind that most of it ends up on your mask. Thankfully, a lot of innovations have sprouted in the past few years in order to have both safety and long-lasting makeup without sacrificing either. Case in point: transfer-proof lippies. Enter local beauty brand Happy Skin and their Lip Mallow Tints.

Happy Skin is known for being a local brand with products at par with those of international beauty industry players. Their lippies need no introduction. Every newbie beauty junkie was probably converted during the pandemic thanks to this brand, arguably their first foray into makeup—hello, Generation Happy Skin line! Even one who still isn’t that familiar with makeup knows of it—for example, this writer right here.
Happy Skin's lip line has always been one of their strongest, shares CEO Jacqe Yuengtian-Guiterrez in an interview with SPOT.ph. The mallow is one of the latest lippies to prove why this has been the case from the beginning of their brand five years ago up until today.
And to amp up their lippies even more, the brand branched out to more skin-caring types of products —talk about truly embodying and strengthening the “Makeup that cares for the skin” tag. The Lip Mallow Tints are just one of them.
For a little context: this line is the tint siblings of the Lip Mallow Mousse, which has a velvety air-whipped formula with a soft-powder matte finish that can also be used on the eyes, lips, and cheeks. The Lip Mallow series, however, is a velvety matte tint that is, yes, transfer-proof.
Testing Out Happy Skin’s Lip Mallow Plush Matte Lip Tint
We got to test the product out for ourselves. We got the tint in Vibin’, a dusty rose shade. There were also other shades like Basic, which is a nude brown; Drip, pinkish red; Casual, cocoa brown; and Lowkey, raisin red. Vibin’ is true to its color; what color you see is what color you get, meaning that the transfer from the bottle to your lips is exactly the same.
First things first: The tint smells amazing. The sweetness of a melon is the first thing that gently smacks you before you pucker up and spread it on your lips. The answer is no, it does not taste like fruit. Although we won’t blame you if you just had to give it a try.
It has a doe-foot applicator, so we had no trouble gliding it smoothly on the lips. This applicator is kinder on your kissers, meaning stable and soft. It doesn’t even take us too much of the tint for a medium to full lip coverage, although it's easily buildable if that's more your style. It has a blurring effect. And after some time of wearing it and it starts to fade, because #WalangForever, it doesn't leave awkward patches either. It’s just natural, in terms of both look and feel. You won’t even notice that you still have it on.
As with other Happy Skin lippies, this product can be used for other things. We used it on our cheeks and on the lids for a soft and natural blush. Thanks to the lightweight make, we only needed to use our fingers to blend.
Oh, and did we mention that it also has SPF15? Yup, it also protects our puckers from the harsh sun, too. For someone who has dry lips, yup, this writer right here, it kept my lips hydrated and moisturized; heck they felt even smoother after I washed off the lippie at the end of the day.
Okay, for the one million dollar question: are they really transfer-proof? Well, we gave it a minute or two after applying before putting on our mask and yup, it was all good. To recap: Is it transfer-proof? Check. Does it look good? Check. Does it leave our lips and skin feeling nourished? Trrriple check. Is it worth adding to your daily makeup arsenal? Definitely.
