(SPOT.ph) Regardless of anyone’s personal feelings about the brand, Belo has maintained a chokehold on the Filipino beauty industry that is literally undeniable. Cebu, too, hasn’t been immune to their siren song. Ever since they opened their first (now defunct) branch in Ayala Center Cebu many, many moons ago, Belo has had a figurative line outside its doors. In actuality, of course, its clientele sits comfortably in its well-appointed lobby.

Belo's largest medical clinic opens up in Cebu
This newer and bigger location is only the latest testament to their growing success. But before we get to that, let’s prattle about the qualities of this branch in numbers. The only Cebu location is the biggest in the country at 500 square meters. It has a VIP suite as well as a VIP lounge. For the rest of us normies, we may find ourselves in one of the eight treatment rooms or six doctor's rooms.
The lobby itself is spacious with marble motifs and tactile ultrasuede furniture. It feels more like a trendy cafe than a doctor’s office. (And you connect to the Wi-Fi by scanning a QR code; the future is now.) That is until you step in one of their treatment rooms for a medical consultation for your intake interview. Belo prides itself on being a medical facility, after all. Then you’re free to get whatever procedure you want as long as you have the doctor’s greenlight. All surgical procedures, however, have to be done in Manila.
Inside, the rooms have the machinery you’d expect—lasers and such—as well as that bed all aesthetic clinics seem have, draped in white linens and a gauzy disposable layer so you know they’re serious about hygiene. Most rooms have a small sofa or a cafe table and some chairs, depending on how large the available space is. All throughout, the entire clinic is dotted with colorful fabric artwork by Olivia d’Aboville. So it actually doesn’t feel that clinical.
Belo Medical Group is best known for their signature facials like the Mermaid (starts at P7,200) and Glass Skin Facials (starts at P8,500). Those looking to get more intensive work done can check out the Zoom Lift (starts at P130,000), which combines either Thermage FLX or Sofwave, Belo Exosomes, and Embedded Protein Threads. This combination of procedures promises a subtly enhanced and contoured look, great for—you guessed it—Zoom meetings. As for body treatments, popular choices include the Angel Whitening Laser (starts at P10,300). All these names are pretty much self-explanatory, except for the “Mermaid” one until you think about The Little Mermaid—because who doesn’t want to be Halle Bailey as Ariel?

Now that the world has reopened, the beauty biz is back in full swing. The opening of this branch in October of 2022 perfectly takes advantage of that. But what’s revolutionary, if you can call it that, about this location being the largest in the entire country—despite its abridged menu—is that it takes the focus, for once, away from Manila. It recognizes that there’s more to the Philippines than the capital. This branch, being the only one outside of Luzon, makes it more accessible for Visayas and Mindanao folk who also want to experience pampering themselves through these means. This is a step in the right direction, if only for what it symbolizes. This could be only one of the reasons why Belo has secured its spot as the foremost in its field. The proof, as they say, is in the pudding.
