On October 27, Day 2 of Philippine Fashion Week, ’60s-inspired collections Rajo Laurel for Wharton and Kate Torralba for Paperdolls were launched at SMX, Pasay City. Torralba showcased retro-modern pieces in a muted palette, except for a red and gold shift dress--her favorite. The dresses, shirts, wide-legged pants and boxy jackets in her collection were made from materials like lightweight brocade, photogenic poly silk and houndstooth tweed.
Meanwhile, Laurel put his own spin on Wharton’s trademark workwear apparel for men, drawing inspiration from images of James Dean and Marlon Brando. "It’s a collection that gives a nod to the past but looks toward the future!" he said.
Among the celebrities and fashionistas who flocked to the show were TV host Miriam Quiambao, Presidential and celebrity stylist Liz Uy, TV personalities Sarah Meier, Marc Nelson, Raymond Gutierrez and Tim Yap, Divine Lee, Victor Basa, Karen Pamintuan and Brent Javier, model-host Joey Mead with fiance Ian King, actress Maxene Magalona, cosmetic surgeon Vicki Belo and daughter Cristalle Henares, Preview Editor-in-Chief Pauline Suaco-Juan, stylist Jenni Epperson, and Philippine Star columnist Celine Lopez.
