VIDEO: Pacquiao admits to lying about his age to turn pro
The world-class boxing champ lied and lived to tell about it.
Boxer Manny Pacquiao admitted to lying about his age, says Yahoo! Sports. In an interview with the champion boxer in Baguio recently, Pacquiao told Graham Bensinger that he told the Games and Amusement Board (GAB) officials he was 18 when he had just turned 16.
"They asked for my birth certificate and I told them it was in Mindanao...they let me play," Pacquiao said.
Pacquiao adds that the Board found out he was underage when he was already 18. By then, the Board couldn’t do anything about it. The boxer also revealed that he almost quit when he lost for the first time. "I was disappointed...I stopped for a couple of months. But I realized, when you lose, there’s a reason for that," he told Bensigner.
