Female dog lover attacked by K-9 in Makati mall undergoes plastic surgery
24 Oras report
Virginia Hilario, a dog lover attacked by a bomb-sniffing K-9 in a Makati mall, had to undergo plastic surgery due to the wounds she sustained on her face, reports 24 Oras. She has filed a complaint against the security agency in charge of the dog and its handler.
In an earlier report by ABS-CBNNews.com, Hilario said she will not press charges against the mall or its security agency. She said she only wants her P50,000 hospital bill to be taken care of. The Makati Police said they will file a case against the agency and the dog handler for reckless imprudence resulting to physical injury, and for violating the Anti-Rabies Act of 2007.
Hilario, who has nine dogs, told 24 Oras about the incident that took place the past weekend. She said the dog handler gave her permission when she asked if she could pet it. Just as Hilario was about to take a closer look at its supposedly abnormal-looking ear, the dog attacked her.
Commander Allen Dalangin, commanding officer of the Philippine Coast Guard’s K-9 Unit, told ABS-CBNNews.com that the dog handler should not have allowed Hilario to go near it. The dog, a Belgian Malinois, is "moody, very defensive, and likely to attack a person," Dalangin said.
