"Kris (Aquino’s) closeness to Ai-Ai (delas Alas) had no bearing on the latter’s (MMFF) victory" - Presidential spokesperson Edwi
Edwin Lacierda, presidential spokesperson and head of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) jury, defended Ai-Ai de las Alas’ Best Actress win for Ang Tanging Ina Mo (Last Na ’To!) yesterday, reports Inquirer.net. He said the "closeness" of presidential sister Kris Aquino and delas Alas "had no bearing on the latter’s victory."
Her performance was "well rounded," he said, according to The Manila Times. "Based on the evaluation of the criteria uniformly provided to all (the) judges, she obtained the highest score."
According to The Manila Times, the MMFF jury this year included "actor Robert Arevalo, Makati City student Justin Binos, film director Emmanuel Borlaza, Mandaluyong City teacher Arnold Cabaluna, movie reviewer and television host Butch Francisco, Muntinlupa City bus driver Milton Medina, actress and satirist Mae Paner, (the) late President Corazon Aquino’s spokesman Deedee Siytangco, Ricardo Trofeo and Baby Villegas."
