Mistresses of allegedly corrupt military officials may be investigated by HOR committee
The House of Representatives may invite mistresses of allegedly corrupt military officials to a hearing on the military’s financial irregularities and former comptroller Carlos Garcia’s controversial plea bargain.
Justice Committee Chair Neil Tupas Jr. said he has received text messages saying it is the mistresses-not the wives-who live ostentatiously, reports ABS-CBN News. "Kasi may nagte-text ’Bakit daw ’yong wives, eh di tinatanong ’yong mistresses?’ May mga generals daw nagsabi na ang asawa daw, hindi jetsetter. Tama raw, hindi (jetsetter). They were telling the truth."
Yesterday at a Senate hearing, Sen. Jinggoy Estrada said the wife of former military comptroller Jacinto Ligot, Erlinda Yambao Ligot, bought two houses in the U.S. when her husband was still in service. The total cost was said to be more than US$687,000 (around P30 million), according to ABS-CBN News.
