22-inch tall Pinoy teen could break Guinness World Record for World’s Shortest Man

From a TV Patrol report

Zamboanga Del Norte native Junrey Balawing could soon break the Guinness World Record for World’s Shortest Man, Yahoo Philippines reports.

Balawing, 17,  stands at only 22 inches-4.4 inches shorter than current record holder Nepalese Khagendra Thapa Magar who stands at 26.4 inches. Before the title is given to Balawing, he must first be assessed and measured by a Guinness World Records adjudicator.

In a post on the Guinness World Records official blog, editor-in-chief Craig Glenday said, "We're intrigued by such a remarkable claim-if it's true, it would make Junrey not just the Shortest Living Man but the Shortest Man Who Ever Lived, beating Gul Mohammed of India (1957-97) at 57 cm, 22.5 in. Of course, he's still not 18 years old, and it's unclear how-and how many times-he was measured. Until we assess him in person, Khagendra remains officially the Shortest Man."
