Leisurely eating and tapas-style meals filled with a lot of good grub in small doses-the Spanish know a thing or two about enjoying good food. Try this leisurely ritual at Tapella in Greenbelt 5 and sample the new items on the menu, starting with the tasty Crujiendes (P110) or ham and cheese bites, and a serving of Carpaccio Beef (P179) served with shards of parmesan cheese.
Tapella’s Fresh Tomato and Garlic Salad (P150) looks far too simple to be so good, but the magic lies in the juicy, fresh-from-the-garden sliced tomatoes topped only with chopped garlic and rock salt. Go adventurous with your bowl of paella and enjoy the mild, briny flavors of the Manchego cheese, chicken, asparagus and shrimp paella (P500), or choose a heavier-on-the-stomach dish, the Pollo Morruna Couscous (P340) made with chicken and almonds.
Make sure to ask the servers what they have for dessert. While the choices are not on the menu, Tapella will always have a slice of choco lava cake, double chocolate mousse, or the Mille Crepe, layers of crepes drizzled with dulce de leche sauce. Friday nights at Tapella also call for bottomless glasses of wine from 6 to 9 p.m. for only P600.
