If you’ve vowed to go meat-less this Holy Week (and Earth Week), you might want to keep Edgy Veggy’s number on speed dial: their best-selling Tofu Steak Meal (P230, serves two)-which can be cooked either Chinese, Italian or Japanese style-has got non-believers converted.
Â
Edgy Veggy, the brainchild of artist and yogi Denise Celdran, started out as a means to use the unwanted tofu she wanted to donate to a prison yoga program in 2008. She created Japanese tofu steak out of 20 kilos of tofu and voila-Edgy Veggy was born. A fixture at the weekend Legaspi Market for three years before becoming a vegetarian delivery service, Edgy Veggy is borne from the Buddhist concept of Loving Kindness: be kind to your body, be kind to the Earth, and be kind to the animals. Celdran says she wants to "encourage non-vegetarians to eat healthy at least one or two meals a week to give their stomach and alimentary system a rest."
Â
Providing quality vegetable protein sources from tofu, beans, and nuts that can be eaten fresh or frozen for future consumption, other must-trys include the Vegan Lasagna (P230, serves two), which uses a tofu cream with nutritional yeast instead of cheese, and the Garden Tofu Burgers (P230, 5 pieces).
Â
Edgy Veggy will deliver orders until Wednesday, April 20.
