DOT chief promises "quick fixes" for NAIA Terminal 1 and 3
(SPOT.ph) Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Alberto Lim announced that the agency will implement "quick fixes" in Terminals 1 and 3 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) before the end of the year, reports ABS-CBN News. The news comes after online readers of travel site "The Guide to Sleeping in Airports" voted NAIA, particularly Terminal 1, the worst airport in Asia and the fifth worst in the world last year.
Lim told ANC’s Headstart, "We will make the arrival area look more spacious by knocking down heavy walls and (replacing it with) glass... We will bring the outside inside. Part of the plan is to convert the parking lot into a park where families (that are) waiting can relax." He said Terminal 3 is being fixed and will be ready for international traffic by June 2012.
Lim also told Headstart that the DOT will bid out the new tourism campaign among "advertising companies (with) experience in international branding." He noted that the former slogan "WOW Philippines" is still being used in DOT campaigns in some countries.
