(SPOT.ph) President Noynoy Aquino, 51, went on a date with an unidentified woman at the reunion concert of the band Hotdog at Dusit Hotel in Makati on Monday, Manila Bulletin reports. Communications Secretary Ricky Carandang said, "It was clear it was a date."
Inquirer.net reports that the woman comes "from Cebu," according to a concert promoter. Presidential aides refused to identify the woman, and Inquirer.net reports that a source "close to the President" said it was to give "romance a chance to blossom." The source added, "They have been friends for some time now and just renewed their acquaintance recently." The source also said that the pair has gone out "several times" before.
Citing a "source at the Palace," Manila Bulletin reports that Aquino fetched the woman at her home in Pasig and had dinner at a Japanese restaurant in Dusit Hotel before the concert.
Carandang, who was unable to meet the President’s mystery date, said, "I don’t know who she was but she was obviously acquainted with the wives of Bong (Philippine Amusement Gaming Corporation Chief Bong Naguiat) and Rene (Energy Secretary Jose Rene Almendras)."

Naguiat and Almendras and their respective wives were among the guests who occupied the three tables for the President’s group at the concert, along with Aquino’s running mate in the last election, Mar Roxas, and Budget Secretary Florencio Abad and his wife Batanes Rep. Henedina Abad. According to Inquirer.net, it was Roxas, said to be the incoming chief of staff, who bought the tickets for 34 people.
