ABS-CBNNews.com reports that the Philippine Dragon Boat Team-who won five gold and two silver medals during this year's International Dragon Boat Federation World Championships-will join relief and rescue efforts for victims of Typhoon "Pedring."

Team manager, Maj. Harold Cabunoc said they are currently looking for a long bed truck that will transport their boat from Metro Manila to Central Luzon where thousands of people were affected by flooding. The team is composed of members who are part of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

We are on standby and ready once we find a long bed truck... The AFP ran out of trucks because of the relief operations that we are conducting," he said.

As of 6 a.m. yesterday, September 30, GMA News Online, quoting a National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council report, revealed that the death toll from "Pedring" had gone up to 43 while the damage to property neared the P4-billion mark.
