Kidnapped Fil-Am woman freed in Basilan, but 14-year-old son and 19-year-old nephew still missing
Interaksyon.com reports that Filipino-American Gerfa Lunsmann, 50-who was kidnapped from a resort in Tictabon Island, Zamboanga City last July 12-was released by her captors on Sunday night in Basilan. Lunsmann was dropped off at Sitio Suba Kampong, Barangay Townsite, Maluso town.
However, according to Director Felicisimo Khu of the Directorate for Integrated Police Operations in Western Mindanao, they still have no information about Lunsmann’s 14-year-old son Kevin and 19-year-old nephew Romnick Jackaria. The two were also seized by 15 armed men last July.
According to the report, the military tagged the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) under sub-commander Jumdail Jamiri as behind the abduction and brought the victims to Basilan, the traditional stronghold of the bandits.
The bandits had reportedly asked the Lunsmann family, who are based in Virginia, for a $10 million ransom for the victims.
Lunsmann was later turned over to to Jagdeep Khangura and Michael Paysan, both special agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
