(SPOT.ph) Monsee's Café, a light-filled café in White Plains, is a magnet for caffeine hounds and pastry devotees. The home-turned-café has regular customers coming in for their famed breadsticks and soft, crusty Spanish bread with butter filling, while others stay longer for a cup of coffee. Now, Monsee's has included hot meals on their menu and serves a hearty Sunday breakfast buffet in their all-white, laid-back space.
Head straight for the cushioned benches and tables in the cozy dining area, where the aroma of freshly baked bread teases your senses as you check out the homestyle dishes on the menu: the Adobo in Manggang Hilaw (P165) perfects the subtle sour-sweet flavors of this beloved Pinoy dish without using soy sauce; the Roastbeef Sandwich (P225) delivers satisfying bites with thick slices of roastbeef coated with melted cheese; and the Pasta Carbonara (P145) takes on the Pinoy version of the Italian staple with cream, cheese and bacon. "Everything is made traditionally," shares partner and ISCAHM-educated Marina Demeterio. "The breadsticks are hand-rolled everyday, we don't use preservatives for the baked bread."
Fresh-out-of-the oven pastries such as crusty croissants, muffins and Danish Pockets are available all day. A must-try for chocolate fanatics: Monsee's take on the classic chocolate cake, which flaunts a semi-sweet homemade taste.
