Interaksyon.com reports that Quezon Representative Danilo Suarez, an ally of Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, said that the former president "needs a bone biopsy to find the cause and solution to her rare bone disorder, a procedure that could only be done abroad." The statement was backed by Marilen Lagniton, St. Luke's Medical Center (SLMC) vice president for corporate affairs.

According to the report, "After three surgeries, doctors discovered that Arroyo is afflicted with hypoparathyroidism, a hormonal disease in which one's body secretes abnormally low levels of parathyroid hormone (parathormone)."

Suarez explained that the need for a bone biopsy was reported in the medical abstract released by Arroyo’s doctors. "The conclusion is that she needs a bone biopsy, and the procedure is not available here," said Suarez in a phone interview. Lagniton, on the other hand, revealed in a text message: "We don't have expertise and it's not available in the Philippines."

The Arroyo camp is now waiting for the decision of the Department of Justice (DOJ) on her application for Allow Departure Order (ADO) that would allow her to abroad for medical treatment. The decision is expected either this week or next week.
