(SPOT.ph) Plenty of delicious things come from Canada: ice wine. Maple syrup. Ryan Gosling. Ryan Reynolds, even. Starting this week, EDSA Shangri-La, together with the Embassy of Canada in Manila, lets you revel in many more great, undiscovered things a Canadian kitchen has to offer via an all-out food fest at HEAT.



Titled "Canada HEATS It Up," the festival highlights regional food from each province, including a Montreal-style duck leg confit finished off with a caramelized orange sauce, salted pork and white bean cassoulet from Quebec, and a slow-roasted, melt-in-your-mouth beef loin from Alberta, among others. Particularly noteworthy is the roasted pacific sablefish, a succulent specialty from Vancouver that possesses the same soft-as-silk texture as a gindara and is just as naturally flavor-packed as the Chilean seabass.



Incidentally, Shangri-La’s executive sous chef Damon Campbell happens to be Canadian, and he calls his native country’s rich cuisine a "culinary cornucopia." "This festival is a personal journey for me," Campbell said. "Being Canadian and from Vancouver, I drew inspiration from family recipes and the diverse regional cuisines."



More delicious things to get excited about: the ever-popular Nanaimo bar, British Columbia’s no-bake confection made with wafer crumbs, custard, and melted chocolate squares. Plus, guests who dine for lunch or dinner get a chance to win a two-night stay in a Deluxe Room at Shangri-La Hotel, Vancouver, with round-trip transfers via Hong Kong from Air Canada.

 


The buffet is priced at P1,210++ for lunch (Mondays to Saturdays) and P 1,565++ on Sundays while dinner is at P 1,475 (Sundays to Thursdays ) and P 1,665++ (Fridays to Saturdays).



The Canadian Food Festival at HEAT will be available for lunch and dinner until November 20.
