Marcos supporters in Hawaii push for late president’s state burial

GMA News Online, citing government-run radio station dzBB, reports that supporters of former President Ferdinand Marcos have reiterated their appeal to the Philippine government to grant a state burial for the late leader. The group made their plea while President Benigno Simeon Aquino III is in Honolulu for an Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) gathering.

GMA News Online, citing government-run radio station dzBB, reports that supporters of former President Ferdinand Marcos have reiterated their appeal to the Philippine government to grant a state burial for the late leader. The group made their plea while President Benigno Simeon Aquino III is in Honolulu for an Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) gathering.

"I think a decision has been made," Lacierda said at a press briefing Sunday afternoon (Manila time), November 13. Lacierda was referring to Aquino announcement in October that he would not allow a state burial for Marcos as the move would allegedly be an injustice to martial law victims.

"It really would be, I think, the height of injustice to have any honors to the person who was the direct mastermind of all of their sufferings," Aquino had told members of the Foreign Correspondents Association of the Philippines (FOCAP).
