Interaksyon.com, citing a News5 segment, quoted Senator Francis Escudero who said that he will "push for the chamber’s recognition of the late Fernando Poe Jr. as the winner of the 2004 presidential elections." That is,  "if an inquiry proves the movie star did win the controversial contest against then incumbent President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo."

Escudero released a statement on Wednesday, December 14, wherein he explained, "It will be a resolution finding that there was massive cheating in the 2004 elections and recognizing that FPJ won that election." Interaksyon.com noted that Escudero’s statement coincided with Poe’s seventh death anniversary.

The Senate is currently conducting an inquiry into the alleged fraud that accompanied the 2004 and 2007 elections. The report also pointed out: "In 2004, Poe lost to Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo by about a million votes in a poll she has been accused of rigging to ensure her victory."
