Comelec wants Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo transferred to "regular detention facility"

Interaksyon.com reports that the Commission on Elections (Comelec) "has asked the Pasay City court to transfer Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to a regular detention facility after over a month of staying under hospital arrest at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC)."

Interaksyon.com reports that the Commission on Elections (Comelec) "has asked the Pasay City court to transfer Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to a regular detention facility after over a month of staying under hospital arrest at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC)." The former president has been the VMMC since December 9, 2011.

 

The report cited Comelec spokesman James Jimenez, who said said the motion was filed before the Pasay City Regional Trial Court (Branch 112) at around 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 24. Jimenez added that "the Comelec has also asked the Pasay RTC to direct the director of the VMMC or Arroyo’s doctors to submit a report on the necessity of Arroyo to remain at the VMMC."
