(SPOT.ph) Devotees of Silk in Serendra will find a couple of new reasons to visit the restaurant: updated interiors-walls are painted with lime and pink and adorned with handpainted orchids, and Asian-inspired lamps hang from the ceiling-accompany the new dishes on the menu.
The new menu items are a sweet-spicy homage to Thai and Asian flavors. If you like the tug between sweet and sour flavors, you'll like the Thai Style Apple and Mango Salad (P280): sweet apple strips balance out the tang from the green mango and the subtle heat from the chili while the crushed peanuts add texture to each salad bite. Make sure to order Silk's Crispy Salt and Pepper Fried Squid with Coriander Root (P380), a spicier version of the popular Chinese dish served with fried tender squid sprinkled with coriander, onions and peppers. Other new entrees include the Deep Fried Soft Shell Crab with Black Pepper Sauce (P435) and the Thai-style Sweet and Sour Lapu Lapu (P170/ 100 grams).
Silk's bestsellers such as the Pad Thai (P360), a pretty serving of noodles inside a lattice omelet cage and the Thai requisite, Bagoong Rice (P340), are still on the menu. Desserts at Silk lean towards Thai favorites such as the Mango Sticky Rice (P220) but their homemade ice cream-which comes in strawberry, durian, and coconut flavors-are a must-try: each spoonful is a creamy and luscious sweet treat. Asian-inspired cocktails are also available at Silk: pandan and lemongrass-flavored martinis, and a drink dubbed Ginger Zinger are available at discounted prices during happy hour from 6 to 8 p.m. daily.
