Interaksyon.com reports that the Philippine National Taxi Operators Association (PINTOA) plans to file a petition before the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) for a ₱10 fare increase as liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) dealers hike prices.

The report quoted Quezon City Councilor Bong Suntay, who is also president of PINTOA, who revealed that the group held an emergency meeting on Wednesday, February 29, after LPG dealers announced a ₱6 to ₱7 per kilogram increase in prices. Interaksyon.com noted: "This would translate to a ₱4.30 per liter hike in the cost of auto-LPG."

If PINTOA’s petition is approved, then the taxi flagdown rate would rise to ₱50, and the incremental increase for every 300 meters traveled would go up to ₱4.50.
