(SPOT.ph) Back in August 2020, at the height of the pandemic, a post made the rounds on Facebook saying that National Book Store is "closing branches in expensive malls [and] only stand-alone shall stay." This was later denied by the Philippines' largest bookstore chain, which said that "National Book Store (NBS) is working tirelessly to adapt to the difficulties posed by the current situation and continue providing every Laking National with books and supplies." Fast forward to the tail end of 2022, an announcement posted at the payment counters of NBS at Greenbelt 1 said that the branch "will be permanently closing on December 31."

But don't fret! NBS shoppers in Makati can still visit their branches at Glorietta 1, Ayala Circuit Makati, Power Plant Mall at Rockwell, San Lorenzo Place, Waltermart Makati, and Cash & Carry Mall. Online shopping is also available through www.nationalbookstore.com, Lazada, and Shopee.
NBS, founded in 1942, is headquartered in Mandaluyong City. After 80 years, the institution has over 200 branches nationwide including a chain of specialty stores dedicated to art supplies called Art Bar.
