(SPOT.ph) We can all agree that it's a waste having to throw something out despite it still technically being in working order, whether it's for an upgrade or you just got tired and bored of it. Hey, it happens. Worse is you ending up buying the same exact thing—functional and all, just new—for a hefty price. That's where pre-loved, a.k.a. secondhand items come in, typically at a much cheaper price. It's a win-win situation for both the buyer and seller, and we know you're familiar with buying secondhand when it comes to clothes. But did you know that you can do the same if you're a fan of go-to sports-junkie brand Decathlon Philippines? Yup, the store has a special section where you can buy, and even sell, pre-loved fitness and sporting gear.Â

Here's how you can buy and sell pre-loved sports equipment at Decathlon Philippines.Â

Depending on the type, sports equipment can be quite expensive, we know. So if you're looking for a much cheaper unit yet still have the same quality alternative, Decathlon pretty much has your back. The sporting goods store is breathing "second life to pre-loved and displayed sports items" through the Second Life project.
You can browse a selection of gear, from fitness essentials to sports like cycling, water sports, and outdoor equipment—pre-loved, of course—among others at discounted prices online. You can search for a product if you're looking for something specific, or you can always just fall down the rabbit hole of discounted sports gear and browse through their featured products. There are quite a few that might tickle your fancy. Decathlon guarantees that "each item has been thoroughly checked and we assure you that these products are safe to use." Best part? You can enjoy the same one-year return and exchange and two-year warranty period.Â

You have to drop by their physical stores or through their Chat & Collect to purchase the items.
If you have, however, sports equipment you don't want to throw away but you don't use anymore or you're looking for an upgrade, you can sell them through Decathlon's Buy Back program. Yup, you can try selling old equipment back for a price. A win-win situation indeed.Â
Note that the products must be in working condition. The website states that they accept all "Decathlon Brands' equipment with an initial selling price at or above P1,500". After filling out the BuyBack form and the initial checking, if the products are eligible, Decathlon will "buy, repair, clean, and then resell" the items so "other sports lovers get to enjoy their value." Save the planet, save your pocket, they say.Â
