(SPOT.ph) When one talks about understated and underrated sneakers, nothing suits the topic better than Veja—we, at SPOT.ph, know this for a fact. The French sneaker brand, with its minimalist pairs dressed predominantly in white uppers with only a "V" logo on the sides, deserve a spot on the top rungs of your sneaker-rotation choices. Veja has been around for almost 20 years, so you know it’s got something good going on.
The minimalism is one thing, but its sustainability efforts are a whole 'nother. Best known for its sustainable methods for creating sneakers, Veja uses Brazilian and Peruvian organic cotton on the canvas and laces, Amazonian rubber on the soles, and other recycled materials on its pairs.
While Veja might not have a physical standalone store in Manila, you can always get a pair of your own on Zalora.

Esplar Leather Sneakers (P8,100)
The Esplar, which is probably the pair that fits the minimalist look the most out of the bunch, especially in terms of build and design (in particular, the outsole/platform) is one of Veja's original styles. It is also one of the brand's best-selling pairs—and a lot of Hollywood celebrities' absolute favorites. You just know it's one of those styles that you can wear time and time again and easily pair with your ensembles.

Recife Logo Chromefree Sneakers (P9,650)
Sneakers with velcro straps give you the ease-of-wear factor; think the convenience of a slip-on pair yet with the security of laces. The design of the Recife Logo Chromefree Sneakers breathes the classic Veja kicks look—sans the laces, which are replaced by three velcro straps to swiftly yet securely and snugly fasten your feet in. Who says you can’t have that favorite feature you once had in your childhood days once more? It sports a ChromeFree leather upper and an Amazonian rubber outsole.

Campo Chromefree Sneakers (P9,350)
The Campos and Esplars are like twins, the only difference is that the former has a thicker, higher outsole—for when you want that height advantage—as well as a higher tongue and footbed which means more support. The outsoles even have an added sustainability edge of rice waste in their material. Like the Esplars, you can easily pair this with your basics: like your jeans or dresses, and give your look a casual and carefree spin. We spotted one dressed in a black canvas and a white "V" logo.

V-10 Leather Sneakers (P8,650)
The V-10s, which has a chunkier build and a thicker outsole than the Esplars, is another bestseller of the brand. The most noticeable detail is the perforated panel on the upper and the plain, higher, and simpler tongue and heel. It oozes a more sporty vibe compared to the casual silhouette of the Esplars and Campo yet retains that same versatility. If you're not a fan of the small holes, you have other iterations of the V-10s, like the V-10 B-Mesh Sneakers (also P8,650) which are breathable, multi-toned sneakers; or the V-10 CWL (P10,300) in fun pops of colors on the iconic V logo and heel.

V-12 Leather Sneakers (P9,650)
Compared to the V-10s, the V-12s are narrower; with both genuine and suede leather on the upper. The insole and outsole are made from recycled materials with recycled polyester and organic cotton, and recycled rubber blend respectively, so you can get that clean look you want with more sustainable material. You can opt for a contrasting blue and red colorway on the logo and heel or a matching brown, depending on your preferences.
