10 Gorgeous Christmas Trees in Metro Manila Malls

(SPOT.ph) Malls in and around the Metro are usually the first to signal the arrival of the Christmas season in the country. They put up lots and lots of lights, decorations, signages, pipe in Jose Mari Chan songs, and of course, gigantic Christmas trees right in the center of the shopping area. They’re impossible to miss. And since everyone’s well on their way to said malls to go gift shopping or buy everything you might need for parties, reunions, and the like, you might as well take a picture or two with these towering trees.

Gateway 2 Mall
It feels like a White Christmas at the recently opened Gateway 2 Mall in Araneta City, with a 35-foot tree adorned in white and silver towering over the Quantum Skyview hall. This tree boasts 520 Christmas balls, 200 LED lights, 58 Sputnik light bulbs, and 1,500 pine garlands, not to mention the added flair of the overhead LED screen on the ceiling, complete with a starry night sky.
Glorietta
If you ever get lost in the maze that is the Glorietta Mall, you’ll find a beacon of light in the form of a giant Christmas tree. The tree, situated in the Activity Area, is surrounded by little houses. There’s even a bench for Santa Claus to sit on underneath the grandiose tree filled with red, green, and gold balls topped by a bright star.
Shangri-La Plaza
Raise your hands if, whenever Christmas draws nearer, you’d go around with your friends singing carols to your neighbors bringing along utensils, cans, and whatever other makeshift instruments you could get your hands on. The sound of joy and nostalgia will hit you when you visit Shangri-La and it's massive Christmas tree, decorated with musical notes and bells. Expect the Grand Atrium to be filled with more decor and even a creative display of lighting.
SM Megamall
SM Megamall is showing the real definition of mega with their Christmas tree standing 50-foot tall in the middle of the Mega Fashion Hall. And it’s not just huge, the tree is just as bright, adorned with the city’s landmarks in the form of ornaments with dazzling lights. The tree is sprinkled with red and gold, surrounded by LED buildings to create a picture-perfect display.
Bonifacio Global City
RIght with the theme, “Unboxing the Holidays,” Bonifacio Global City unboxes its festive Christmas tree towering over the pedestrians and vehicles along 7th Avenue. The tree shimmers with red and gold ornaments, add in a warm and inviting display of lights, and of course, the cherry on top: the bright star perched on top of the tree. But that’s not all, there are seven “larger-than-life” holiday installations around the area for the Christmas season.
Uptown Bonifacio
Uptown Bonifacio’s 40-foot Christmas tree sheds the spotlight (literally and figuratively) on Filipino arts and crafts, with its woven and locally sourced ornaments and decorations made by the hands of indigenous artisans.
Parqal
Parqal in Aseana City, Paranaque glows golden courtesy of their Christmas tree, nestled underneath the canopy and just beside the amphitheater and fountain display. The tree is decorated with gold and rose gold glowing ornaments, a few that look like the parols we usually hang around our homes during this season
Eastwood Mall
Eastwood isn’t one to fall behind when it comes to Christmas festivities. Aside from the free light show and fountain display happening until December ends, the area offers its visitors two unique Christmas trees. One is located in the middle of the Open Park, the 20-foot Christmas tree sculpture made from NASA-grade MYLAR laminated chromed metal on a revolving frame. It is the creation of Batalla and Oh David. The second one is a colorful display of ornaments as well as light-up gift boxes, toys, drums, and more around a bigger, 50-foot giant tree.
Robinsons Magnolia
Christmas is alive and golden, too at Robinsons Magnolia. Right off the main entrance, mallgoers will be greeted with the dazzling sight of the Quezon City mall’s 40-foot Christmas tree filled with gold (but not quite literally) ornaments. The bright yellow, golden hue illuminates the open space. The big Christmas tree has baby trees sprouting on a platform on one side, with a unique sculpture of a red bear in the middle.
The Podium
The gigantic Christmas tree in The Podium is a treat for the eyes. Mallgoers and diners can bask in the subtle and golden glow of the lights in between the greens of the tree and the reds of the Christmas ornaments of the tree, as well as what seems to be glowing petals sprawled elegantly around the body. The tree is atop a golden stage with big red and golden balls, and glowing flowers surrounding it.
