Apo Whang-Od, PH's Oldest Mambabatok, Has a Custom Pop

(SPOT.ph) Everyone wants to go to the village of Buscalan and have their skin traditionally inked by the tattoo master Apo Whang-Od. Everyone who has trudged that path will tell you it's a meaningful experience, the long rough ride and climb aside. 

But if you're an Apo Whang-Od fan and have yet to get her markings, or if you've already been tattooed by her but need another proof of your admiration for the woman, custom toy maker Custom Pop or MakerCarl has a limited-edition Custom Pop of the country's oldest mambabatok, which was done in collaboration with Apo Whang-Od herself.

There's a limited-edition custom pop of the country's oldest mambabatok, Apo Whang-Od.

The cuustom pop was unveiled last weekend during ToyCon at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City. The doll is actually already the second collaboration between Apo and Custom Pop; the first one was released last year for the tattoo artist's 106th birthday. According to reports, Apo Whang-Od and her tribe only allowed 107 pieces of her Custom Pop to be made.

Custom Pop's Apo Whang-Od Funko Pop has the tattoo artist in traditional black and red Kalinga clothes. Her tattoos are seen through her crossed arms. The limited-edition doll comes with an authenticity card and a customized "tinik". 

According to MakerCarl, 106 of the pops are available in five-inch figures, while the 107th (and final) piece is two feet. Take note that there are limited slots only so getting one is on a first-come, first-served basis. Part of the proceeds will go to Apo Whang-Od, her family, as well as her chosen charity.

The five-inch Apo Whang-Od custom pops retail at P24,999, while the two-feet one are at P107,000 (it also comes with an acrylic case). You can shoot them a message through their Instagram page if you're interested.
