(SPOT.ph) If your friends are the type to enjoy a good board or card game when you get together, this situation might sound familiar to you: Someone in the group tries to introduce a new game, but there are just too many rules—and after a few drinks, who can even keep up? We know the struggle, so here are 10 easy-to-explain board games for you next get-together.

Though Coup may look intimidating at first, the game’s simple concept (plus the guide cards that come with it) will have all your friends understanding it in a matter of minutes. Players take turns doing actions based on their assigned (but secret) character. Anyone can be accused of lying at any moment, with penalties for the liar or wrongful accuser. We dare you not to laugh out loud while accusing your friends or finding out they were deceiving you all along.

How well do you know your friends? Disturbed Friends will show you that you may not know them as well as you think. In this game, each player takes a turn reading a card with three options on it. All the other players vote which option the first player will choose and get points if they’re correct. Get ready for some wacky moments because the questions on these cards don’t hold back!

In Joking Hazard, players compete to finish a three-panel comic strip. Each player is dealt seven cards, each one being a separate comic strip panel. In each round, the first panel is drawn from the deck while a selected player puts down the second panel. All other players put down a card for the third panel and the point is awarded to whichever card the selected player chooses as the best to complete the comic strip. This one can go from funny to random to downright strange, but we promise it's always a good time!

The easiest rules to follow are the ones you make up on the spot—which is pretty much how Blank works. The goal of the game is to get rid of all your cards, but the rule cards are fill-in-the-blanks style so you and your friends can make up whatever weird rules may come to mind. Throw some drinks in the mix and who knows what you'll come up with!

HUH? (P1,400)

In HUH?, the key to winning the game is to confuse all the other players—in this case, your probably-already-intoxicated friends. Each player takes a turn attempting to describe a movie, celebrity, or fictional character in vague and unusual ways. At least one player must be able to guess whatever is being described, but the fewer who can guess, the better score. Side note: Singing and acting is encouraged—and trust us, it will make the game even funner!

This game will test your speed and observation skills. In Dobble, a player picks out two cards in a round and tries to spot the picture common to both cards—it may be a different size on one card or drawn somewhere hard to find, but we promise it’s there. See how quickly you can spot them after a drink or two!

In Exploding Kittens, players take turns picking cards from the deck until someone gets an exploding kitten. The person who gets the exploding kitten loses, but players can continuously avoid it with cards that allow them to skip turns, peek at the cards, or even defuse the explosion. You’ll have lots of fun trying to make your friends get the exploding card, but try not to let your competitive spirit get the best of you!

Hugot (P550)

Hugot is Cards Against Humanity for the heartbroken. This game has you filling in the blanks on each card with answer from your own dealt cards and then creating personal hugot lines. For example, if you pick out a card that says “Si crush parang ______” and you match it up with a card that says “pagkain,” you can explain your answer by saying “palaging nasa isip ko.” If you tend to get a little sentimental after a few cocktails, this one’s for you.
