Better add this pair to your collection, stat!

(SPOT.ph) One of the best things about sneakers is that even timeless, decades-old styles are continuously made over with fresh looks. Have you ever looked at your plain shoes and thought about making them uniquely your own with a marker and some quick doodles? Well, this local artist just proved that that dream isn’t too far out of reach. Filipino designer Nikko Pelaez, who won the Vans Asia Custom Culture 2018 competition, got to team up with Vans in order to create his very own iteration of the sneaker brand’s signature kicks. This makes him the first-ever Filipino to design a pair for Vans: “Along With the Gods” Sneakers are available starting today, November 15!

“I really feel blessed and overwhelmed at the same time because my design was brought to life by Vans,” shares Pelaez about his creation. The slip-on sneakers, which feature a canvas upper and thick soles characteristic of Vans' skater-style kicks, feature intricate drawings inspired by Greek mythology. The predominantly black-and-white illustrations may remind you of graphic novels or fantasy books you read as a child. The detailed sketches are given a pop of color thanks to the bright orange pops of fire all around the body.
