Ironically enough, it's precisely this culture of convenience that drives our longing for the slowness of the past. The good news is that there are many places around the world that work to preserve the experiences that make us most nostalgic. If you're a lover of all things old, historical, or storied, and you're in search of the kind of solace that can only come from a daydream about the past, you'll want to check this out: local vintage clothing store It's Vintage just opened its first permanent store in Manila and it'll take you on a trip back in time!
Don't let the name of the store confuse you—it's pretty straight to the point. Now, when someone asks about your clothes and says "where did you get your that?" you can confidently answer "It's Vintage!" (without the threat of sounding too pretentious). It's Vintage is the brainchild of Filipino designer Fed Pua, the creative force behind local streetwear brand Factory, best known for its one-of-a-kind jackets. It's Vintage previously held pop-ups around the Metro since first launching its online store in 2017, but this branch in Makati is their first permanent, standalone shop. The interiors of the store are decked out in an old-school, rustic Americana aesthetic. Plus, they've got vinyl records playing all day, so it really does feel like a trip back in time.
It's Vintage, as its name suggests, is filled with racks upon racks of cool retro pieces sourced from all over the world. The lineup includes jackets, sweaters, blazers, T-shirts, trousers, and more with unique designs you'll be hard-pressed to find anywhere else. You'll want to take your time browsing the entire store and scouring each row one at a time since no two pieces inside are exactly alike.

There's something almost novel now about the experience of entering a store with no agenda and just hoping to chance upon something that will catch your eye. This is perhaps the most exciting thing about It's Vintage: it's the kind of store that you can only really only enjoy through a thorough, first-hand search—no browsing through online catalogs or seeing models wear the pieces on Instagram. You'll want to drop by for both the stylish old-school pieces you can shop and for the experience of browsing in itself.
