After Five Years, Common Room Is Closing Their Katipunan Store
They're saying goodbye to their first home.
(SPOT.ph) It's a sad day for lovers of all things artsy: Common Room announced in a Facebook post that they will be closing the doors of their Katipunan store. "It is with deep sadness that we say goodbye to Common Room’s first home in Katipunan," they write.
Exactly five years ago, the arts and crafts haven opened in a small corner of Katipunan and instantly became home to a number of local brands and works of Filipino artists. The shop was filled to the brim with unique finds and gift-worthy items—not to mention, every corner was IG-worthy, too! What started out as a humble little store that showcased the talent and craft of local artists ended up gaining a community of art lovers. It easily became a place to discover homegrown brands and local artists. The success of Common Room's Katipunan store sparked the opening of pop-ups around the Metro, and eventually, more branches around Manila.
"We sincerely believe, though, that the best way to celebrate its anniversary is to ensure that the community survives this pandemic, even if it meant saying goodbye to the home that paved the way for our other homes," they write. "This store will always have a special place in our hearts. Its opening made our community possible and its closing ensured our community continues to exist. "
