LOOK: There's Now More Space Between Tiangge Stalls at Greenhills
Wondering what it looks like now?
(SPOT.ph) It's officially the -ber months and for Filipinos, that marks the beginning of the holiday season. In case you were worried about how to get your Christmas shopping done in the middle of a pandemic, online shopping is your best friend. But if you're the type who prefers physically shopping for gifts and has practically made it a tradition to shop at Greenhills during the festive season, you're probably curious about the tiangge situation in the popular shopping spot.
Take it from San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora himself: "It is safe to go to San Juan and Greenhills. I understand that there is a stigma when you say Greenhills because people remember that this was where the first local transmission of COVID-19 was recorded,” Philstar reports on Tuesday, September 2. According to the mayor, the number of people that visit Greenhills Shopping Center has "declined dramatically" but Zamora assures mallgoers that they have already disinfected the shopping space and placed health and safety protocols to keep shoppers safe. In fact, the tiangge stalls now have more space between them and there are now floor markings that help control customer traffic.
We looked around the check out how Greenhills' tiangge looks and true enough, the shopping area looks a lot more spacious than it was before, so you won't be bumping shoulders with fellow shoppers. According to Greenhills Malls' Facebook post, walkways are now three to five meters wide and items are sanitized on a regular basis. Take note that shoppers are now required to wear face masks and face shields.
