Did You Know Apple Makes Protective Face Masks?
We're crossing our fingers that they'll make it available to the public!
(SPOT.ph) Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, we've seen several big-named brands from all over the world (Uniqlo, Adidas, and Under Armour, just to name a few) producing protective face masks to help prevent the spread of the virus. These retail giants each made a unique mask with its own cool features and innovations. If you've been keeping an eye out on all the different kinds of masks being released, here's one you might not have heard about yet: Did you know Apple makes protective face masks?
Now before you run to get your credit card and order the Apple Face Masks for all of your friends and family, you should know it's not actually for sale. According to Bloomberg, Apple Inc. is exclusively distributing these masks to corporate and retail employees. It was designed in-house by Apple's Engineering and Industrial Design teams in Cupertino, California—"the same groups that work on devices such as the iPhone and iPad."
While we couldn't get our hands on the Apple Face Mask, TikTok user @erwinandco was able obtain a package and he made a two-part unboxing video showing the product and all of its features up close.
In true Apple fashion, the Apple Face Mask is boxed in the same pristine white packaging as all of the tech brand's world-famous devices. Each box comes with five masks individually wrapped in plastic with instructions and sanitary precautions printed on the plastic.
In the video, @erwinandco walks through each element of the design and packaging as well as each feature on the mask. According to MacRumors, the mask features a three-layer design and can be washed up to five times. It has a triangular flap on top "to accommodate the nose without fogging glasses" as well as "a rounded section for the chin and adjustable strings for the ears." You can see @erwinandco give a close look of the flaps and straps in his video.
Each mask is built with handy adjustable straps, so the wearer can fit it perfectly onto their head.
The five-piece pack also comes with hooks to clip the mask straps behind the wearer's head, which will keep the straps from dangling behind the head or scratching at the ears.
Apple told Bloomberg that they "conducted careful research and testing to find the right materials to filter the air properly while not disrupting the supply of medical personal protective equipment."
The masks are currently being distributed to Apple employees. We're crossing our fingers that Apple will make the protective face masks available for commercial release!
