Kate Spade Gives Classic Styles a Quirky Twist in Their Elegant New Collection
They make great accent pieces!
(SPOT.ph) Luxury fashion brand Kate Spade New York was founded in the early ‘90s and has since been known for its distinct aesthetic, which expresses femininity and sophistication in a fun, whimsical way. Nearly three decades later, the brand stays true to its original appeal and their new Fall 2021 Collection is proof.

The stand-out line in their latest release is known as the I Love NY Capsule Collection and it’s an homage to the brand’s city of origin. Several of the pieces included in the line feature the kitschy "I Heart NY" logo (of souvenir T-shirt fame) designed by Milton Glaser in 1977. The text has long since evolved into a legendary, world-famous piece of cultural iconography. "There’s a magic to New York that can’t be found anywhere else, and nothing embodies that spirit more than the classic 'I LOVE NY' logo,” said Kate Spade's chief marketing officer Jenny Campbell. "As a brand, we're constantly inspired by our hometown—its beauty, color, resilience and constant sense of optimism and joy."
Other pieces in the capsule collection pay tribute to NYC with more subtle design elements like apple illustrations and silhouettes (from the phrase "The Big Apple") as well as styles that would fit right into that famous fast-paced big-city New Yorker lifestyle. The line includes totes, crossbody bags, pouches, wristlets, gadget accessories, and more.

Kate Spade’s autumn release also includes fresh new silhouettes as well as updates on their classic styles. One standout piece, which we’d consider a practical purchase for anyone looking for an everyday bag, is the Manhattan Tote, which is available in a pink and wool plaid prints, a spade-flower pattern, and a chenille houndstooth design. It's the same silhouette you’ll see on the I Love NY tote, which the brand describes as large enough to fit "everything one would need for a day of exploration."
Long-time Kate Spade fans and followers, be sure to check out their two new iterations of the classic Spade Flower Jacquard pattern: One sports a cream-and-black colorway finished off with a pink and red racer stripe while the other features a black-and-white pattern scattered with red embroidered hearts. Both prints come in four new shapes this season including a camera bag, a drawstring crossbody bucket bag, a new flap backpack, and a large weekender duffel.
Other bags to check out include a new top-handle shoulder bag known as the Lovitt as well as updated silhouettes like the casual satchel dubbed the Zip Code, a sleek crossbody called the Buddie, and a shoulder bag known as the Knott.
If your fave thing about Kate Spade's style philosophy is their willingness to create quirky, out-of-the-box designs, you'll swoon over the Blinx, an eye-catching crossbody in the shape of an owl. It's available in two stylish colorways!
