Mickey Mouse Goes Monochrome on Uniqlo's Stylish New Sweaters and Tees
The collection also includes Mickey-inspired plates!
(SPOT.ph) World-renowned clothing store Uniqlo is best known for their versatile, form-meets-function pieces. Even as they've continously expanded their line-up with more modern styles like crop tops and sneakers, they've managed to stick to their minimalist fashion philosophy. But that's not to say the Japanese retail giant doesn't try to experiment with their design choices. Where they do keep it playful is on their popular UT line.
Uniqlo UT focuses on creating stylish finds inspired by pop culture and over the years, the brand has teamed up with a number of artists and designers to craft whimsical pieces inspired by popular movies, TV shows, cultural icons, and more. Most recently, they enlisted the help of contemporary artist Joshua Vides to create the Monochrome Mickey Mouse Art UT Collection. The Guatemala-born, Southern California-based illustrator is best known for his pop art-like designs and in this collaboration, he marries that signature style with both a classic cartoon character and Uniqlo’s signature silhouttes. Though Uniqlo has created Mickey Mouse-inspired pieces in the past, this UT drop gives Disney’s century-old mascot a whole new look.
Mickey Mouse has had many design iterations over the decades and for this collection, Vides opted for a more old-school version of the cartoon with pie-cut eyes, giving the pieces both a nostalgic feel and a vintage look. The line includes black and white T-shirts and sweaters, each featuring a variety of Mickey Mouse designs!
Feast your eyes on the new Uniqlo Mickey Mouse Collection:
Aside from apparel, the Monochrome Mickey Mouse Collection also includes ceramics—an unexpected choice for the fashion brand, but a welcome one if you'd like to incorporate that same minimalist look into your home. You can shop their new Small Plates in two Mickey Mouse-inspired designs.
