Rumors of a cheaper iPhone model following the iPhone 13 had been circulating since late 2021 and once again, the gadget leaks were right. As with Apple's previous budget-friendly models—including the iPhone 5c and the 2016 and 2020 iterations of the SE—the new iPhone SE is designed for those on the market for an iPhone that's both smaller and more affordable, making it a great choice for first-time iPhone users. The device sports a 4.7-inch display and is powered by Apple's A15 Bionic Chip—that's the same chip used in the iPhone 13, which means you'll get that same seamless performance the latest flagship smartphone is known for. The device will come installed with iOS 15 and according to Apple, will be compatible with the latest iOS updates for years to come.

Along with a powerful new chip, the 2022 SE also promises improved battery life and 5G capability. And good news for fans of Touch ID: the fingerprint scanner is here to stay. You also get a 12-megapixel lens on the back—when combined with the specs of the A15 chip, you get an excellent camera that promises to optimize texture and detail in photos, enrich colors and contrast, preserve skin tone, and record high-quality videos.

The device will be available in three colors: Midnight, Starlight, and Product Red. The with iOS 15 and according to Apple, will get the latest iOS updates for years to come.

The new iPhone SE starts at U.S. $429 (roughly P22,404). It will be available for pre-order in the U.S. starting March 11 and hit stores starting March 18. No word yet on the release date in the Philippines, but we're already waiting in anticipation!

Aside from the iPhone SE, Apple also unveiled new Apple TV+ features, two new colors for the iPhone 13 series, a new iPad Air, new M1 chips known as the M1 Max and M1 Ultra, and a powerful new desktop computer dubbed the Mac Studio.
