(SPOT.ph) Today, March 24, Nike Philippines' Jordan Brand officially announced its partnership with the Ateneo de Manila University—particularly the Blue Eagles men's, women,'s and high-school basketball teams—as its official athletic-apparel sponsor. This partnership makes the Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) the first-ever Southeast Asian university—and the first university outside of the U.S.—to officially wear Jordan Brand jerseys, shorts, T-shirts, and jackets. These activewear pieces will be the official uniforms of the athletes during the University Athletic Association of the Philippines’ 84th season.
Nike's Jordan Brand Officially Partner With the Ateneo de Manila University
"There are few places in the world where basketball culture shows up like it does in Manila," says Jordan Brand President Craig Williams. On their decision to partner with ADMU, Williams says they hope to "inspire young people through our shared love of the game." In 2021, Jordan also signed basketball star Kiefer Ravena who became the first Filipino athlete to partner with the brand and is himself a graduate of ADMU. Ravena is known for his explosive run in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) from seasons 74 to 78, his professional career in the Philippine Basketball Association, and now, his run under the Japan B. League.
Ravena lauded the partnership between the sportswear brand and the university, noting that it "is a step in the right direction, especially when giving women’s sports the right exposure they deserve." The Jordan x ADMU basketball partnership puts a particular focus on women’s activewear with jerseys cut specifically for female athletes.
To celebrate its partnership with Ateneo Basketball, the Jordan Brand is launching a series of products, services, and events at the Jordan Manila store in BGC. These include viewing parties for selected UAAP games and as well as basketball clinics for intermediate- to advanced-level players known as Jordan Flight Camps.
The Jordan x Ateneo Men’s and Women’s fan tees will also soon be available in limited quantities at the Jordan Manila store in BGC, the Titan store in BGC and on Titan 22's website.
