(SPOT.ph) Despite appearing as a modern and trendy footwear brand—all the more when you call it by the "shorter is hipper" slang term birks—Birkenstock has, in actuality, been kicking it around since the late 1700s. To give you perspective, the world would only be introduced to the ol' classic mode of transportation, the bicycle, the following century, the 1800s.
Still, strap sandals have always been in style—tell your younger relatives about how you rocked the shorts, socks, and sandals combo to college in the '90s—and Birkenstock sandals have always been at the forefront, providing comfortable fits to make you look effortlessly cool on any occasion, like outdoor adventures or casual lunches. Among their newest arrivals, the Kyoto collection still rocks that minimalist vibe, while providing more comfort and coverage for your feet than your typical birks.

Birkenstock PH Drops New Sandals With Suede Leather and Nubuck Hook
The Birkenstock Kyoto collection launches with the colorways Black and Eggshell in the Kyoto Classic for men. Additionally, the Kyoto also comes in upper suede leather, in colorways Midnight & Stone Coin for men and Bold Green & Clay for women. While the black and grey tones inherently fit in with any minimalist outfit, you'll be surprised the vibrant green of the women's variant comes off equally as lowkey with the sandal's design.
Separating itself from the two-strapped Arizona, the big-buckled Madrid, or the, uh, thong-shaped Gizeh, the Kyoto collection has an upper textile canvas that prevents an unwanted amount of foot exposure and does away with the buckle strap, in favor of a Nubuck leather hook and loop closure. Essentially, only your toes will be peeking out in this chill-but-elegant design.
The Kyoto collection is available in all in-person Birkenstock stores in the Philippines. For more information, check out Birkenstock PH's Facebook page.
