2. FIESTA ON FLICKS, AMIGOS.
Don’t miss the 9th Spanish Film Festival from September 30 to October 10 at Greenbelt 3, Ayala Center, Makati City. The festival, organized by Instituto Cervantes de Manila, features award-winning films from Spain and Latin America. The Filipino movie Happyland directed by Jim Libiran will also be shown on the closing night of the festival. Aside from film screenings, there will also be scriptwriting and filmmaking workshops by renowned Spanish scriptwriter and film producer Lola Mayo and Spanish director Isaki Lacuesta, respectively. 3. WATCH PIRATES IN FLIGHT.
Catch Ballet Manila’s latest offering titled Le Corsaire (The Pirate) on October 1, 2, 3, 9, and 10, with shows at 1, 5, and 7:30 p.m. at the Aliw Theater, Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Complex, Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City. Le Corsaire tells the story of two best friends, Medora and Gulnara, who are kidnapped by Lankadem. Pirates Conrad, Ali, and Birbanto come to their rescue. All is well until Birbanto switches sides and suddenly, the two maidens are in peril again. Included in the cast are Lisa Macuja, Mylene Aggabao, Abigail Cruz, Lena Chernova, Yanti Marduli, Zaira Cosico, Jennifer Rose Olayvar, and Gerardo Francisco. Attend Art Flood 2010, an art collectors’ sale for the rehabilitation of the Pasig River by Kapit Bisig Para sa Ilog Pasig (KBPIP), from October 1 to October 3, 1 to 8 p.m. at the Silverlens Gallery, 2320 Pasong Tamo Extension, Makati City.
