3 Days of Music, Art, Games and more at BGC PassionFest 2013

Bonifacio Global City celebrates Andres Bonifacio’s 150th birthday with a series of cool, old-school activities.

(SPOT.ph) If you’re feeling old, just think: Andres Bonifacio would have been 150 by now! We can all start feeling bitter about the fact that he was gone too soon but instead of sulking, why not spend some time in the place the that bears his name? On Andy’s birthday weekend, Bonifacio Global City once again hosts PassionFest, a three-day event in honor of the humble hero from Tondo.

The festivities start on November 29, with the presentation of Gantimpala Theater Foundations’ Katipunan (Mga Anak ng Bayan), a pop-rock musical directed by Joel Lamangan and Jun Pablo that follows the founding of KKK to the Cry at Pugadlawin. November 30, Bonifacio Day, is packed with even more events for the family. Enjoy a quiet afternoon at The Mind Museum with Science sa Plaza or enjoy the outdoors with Run BGC 2013: TakBonifacio.

TakBonifacio is a five-kilometer adventure, where you get to be a Katipunero running away from numerous Gwardya Sibil scattered throughout the obstacle course. Guards are armed with water soakers and you should be on the lookout for Andres Bonifacio! The first female and male participant to finish the race wins P7,000 each, the second placers get P5,000 each, and third gets P2,000 each. Bring the kids, as there is a certain part of the run designed exclusively for them and they get their own prizes. Special prizes will also be given to participants who don the best costume, so come in your best Barong (or Camisa de Chino!).

After the run, enjoy a concert with songs from Rock Supremo, performed by the country’s top bands or check out more of BoniFiesta, which also starts on November 30. Enjoy Filipino Games like Luksong Tinik and Palosebo, food booths with Bisita Kusina curated by Pinoy Eats World, and art activities (chalk art, sketch mobs, even a wishing wall). Watch out for the live painting with 150 Artists for 150 Years featuring Saturday Sketching Sessions brought in by Moustache Creatives!

On December 1, a Parada de Kalesa will take place and yes, there are actual horses involved and free kalesa rides! Specially decorated carriages will go through 7th, 9th, and 11th Avenue and also on 28th and 30th street. After that, Kislap at Kutitap will be happening at BHS Central, where you can catch Sandosenang Sapatos by Tanghalang Filipino, as well as performances by the Philippine Madrigal Singers and the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra.

TakBonifacio registration opens on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at any of the following establishments: Toby's Sports in Shangri-La Mall, Mall of Asia & Glorietta; Runnr in Ayala Alabang Town Center & Bonifacio High Street; and Brooks in SM North EDSA. Registration Fee for participants is P500. Special rates apply to residents and workers of BGC at P350.

Guests may avail a BoniFiesta Passport which provides access to numerous activities in the Passionfest, through every purchase with a single receipt worth P 1,500 from retail stores or restaurants in Bonifacio High Street, One Parkade, Two Parkade, Bonifacio Stopover, Crossroads, or The Fort Entertainment Complex from November 29 to December 1, 2013 only. The BoniFiesta Passport allows guests to enjoy giant games, claim free food items, enjoy free kalesa rides and participate in the art activities.
