The Global Mala Project, initiated by Shiva Rea, now runs in 50 countries with over 800 events held worldwide. The Manila chapter, organized by Teresa Herrera, is a non-profit event that ties up with different charities each year. This year, proceeds will go towards two foundations: Mano Amiga and the Coalition Against Trafficking in Women-Asia Pacific.

Satisfy your chocolate craving and learn from Makati Shangri-La’s Chef Romain Renard as he takes the lead at Chocolate 101, an exclusive chocolate making class on September 13 and 27, 1 p.m. in Sinfully Circles. Guests can uncover the secrets behind preparing chocolate milk jam, chocolate mousse, chocolate truffles, among other sweet delights.

Fans the world over have witnessed David Blaine’s street magic, breaking records and reaching new heights with jaw dropping stunts inspired by Harry Houdini. Born in New York, Blaine rose to fame when he debuted his magic in 1997.

It’s that time of the year again for the most exciting San Miguel Beer Oktoberfest Beer and Music Festival 2014. Kick off the weekend on September 12 at the Greenfield District Central Park with the party of the year!


Manila’s version of the Oktoberfest coincides with the festivities in Germany. Now on its 35th year, fans can expect 12 hours of non-stop music, the first ever beer shower, a never before seen mash-up between legendary rock bands and popular club DJs, as well as fireworks and the SMB inflatable balloon display.


Tickets can be bought at the event, priced at P300 with five free cups of San Miguel Beer. You can also reserve ahead of time through the San Miguel Head Office and the Admovers Office in the West Tower PSE. This event is only open to people aged 18 years and above.

For an ode to history, catch Noli Me Tangere: The Opera on its gala night, September 11, 8 p.m. at the Newport Performing Arts Theater. The production runs through September 28.


This staging of Jose Rizal’s novel is an opera in three acts: the tale of Juan Crisostomo Ibarra who returns to the Philippines after studying in Europe, wanting to marry his betrothed Maria Clara, but is challenged by Padre Damaso, the archenemy of the Ibarras. The story is a dramatic depiction of Rizal’s opposition against Spanish rule, marking a crucial moment in Philippine history.
