The 1975 is back! And this time, they’re ready to rock out at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on January 24, 8 p.m. The English band from Manchester first hit Manila in March 2014 for a series of mall shows. Now, they’re back for a bigger concert! Some of their famous songs include "Chocolate," "The City," "Girls," and many more.

Destress this weekend with Bliss Yoga Manila’s Introduction to Vinyasa Flow Workshop, happening on January 24, 11:30 a.m.


Designed for beginners, as well as advanced yoga practioners, this workshop will familiarize you with key asanas (postures) found in a Vinyasa Flow practice. It will review proper alignment of each asana, modifications, and use of yoga props. There will also be a brief discussion on the background of the practice and the associated breath work (ujayi breathing). The class will be facilitated with a combination of lectures, demonstrations, and an actual full Vinyasa Flow practice.

Learn something new at Alessandra Lanot’s Watercolor Calligraphy workshop, happening on January 24, 9 a.m., in Quezon City and on January 25, 10 a.m., in Bonifacio High Street. Fuse techniques of these two favorites: watercolor and modern calligraphy! Learn basic watercolor washes and brush strokes, and how to use the flexible nib for writing, sketching, and masking, all in three hours. Each participant will get a primary set of concentrated watercolor ink, matte black ink, masking fluid, watercolor paper, brushes, and a flexible nib and nib holder. All materials and refreshments are included.

Go for a relaxing Friday at the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra’s Sound Kaleidoscope: Concert 5 on January 23, 8 p.m., at the Meralco Theater. The concert features pianist Ariel Dechosa as guest soloist under the baton of Maestro Olivier Ochanine and includes Haydn's Symphony No. 100, Ravel's Piano Concerto in G major, and Stravinsky's Petrushka.



Born in Manila, Ariel Dechosa began his piano studies at age 10. He was a full scholar at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City where he subsequently earned his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees under the tutelage of Prof. Arkady Aronov. Upon graduation, he was given the prestigious Harold Sauer-Award, the highest prize bestowed to a graduating pianist. He continued his studies at the Peabody Institute in Baltimore where he earned a Graduate Performing Diploma as a student of Boris Slutsky. He has taken regular master classes with Leon Fleisher, Paul Badura-Skoda, Vladimir Feltsman, and Ruth Laredo.
