(SPOT.ph) Football in the Philippines is a growing community of athletes and enthusiasts. And while football may not be as popular as basketball in the country, there is still a genuine and steady interest in everything related to the sport. There are a number of public and private clubs that regularly play in tournaments all year round, and sports clinics for football, especially for kids and yuppies, abound. With the FIFA World Cup Finals slated this weekend, the excitement surrounding the sport is at an all-time high. To add to the football frenzy, the Philippines' first rooftop football pitch, Cherry Turf, opened its gates to the public and is available for use daily from 6 a.m. until 12 a.m.

Here's everything you need to know about Cherry Turf, the country's first rooftop football pitch:
Located on the rooftop of SM Cherry Shaw, Cherry Turf is an artificial football field ready to cater to groups of all sizes interested in the sport. While the turf is not a full-sized field—it's only a quarter the size of a regular one—it is still a good size fit for types of players in the community. It provides more experienced players with enough space to play the sport competitively while simultaneously not overwhelming more casual users with its size.

Interested in booking the field for a game or two? Rates for peak hours, 6 p.m. to 12 a.m., starts at P6,500 for two-hour use of the turf. Take note that bookings for the field require a two-hour minimum. In case you want to book the pitch during off-peak hours, you can inquire by emailing the Cherry Turf PH team at booking@optimal.athletics.com.

Not a player but an avid cheerleader for your friends or loved ones playing the game? No problem. The field also has a place where people can sit back, relax, eat, and drink while watching others play football.

The turf is owned and operated by Optimal Athletics Inc., a sports recreational start-up company that aims to create opportunities and help mold the development of sports in the Philippines by connecting with various partners that share the same vision of creating a new path for sports in the country.Â
Cherry Turf Philippines is at the Roofdeck, SM Cherry Shaw, 514 Shaw Blvd, Pleasant Hills, Mandaluyong. It is open daily from 6 a.m. to 12 a.m. For more information, visit Cherry Turf Philippines' Facebook page.
