(SPOT.ph) Summer never really ends in the Philippines, so if you’re planning a trip to Boracay later this year, take note that you’ll need to handle entry requirements and fees through a new online system very soon.
The Boracay Tourist Pass is set to launch soon as an online system to streamline the entry process for tourists visiting the island. Once active, the pass will allow visitors to apply for entry permits and settle various fees online with just a few clicks.
This will include the environmental and port terminal fees, which were previously paid separately at various booths upon arrival. With over 120,000 tourists entering the island last September, the online system is intended to cope with high visitor numbers while minimizing delays. Fingers crossed that this also puts an end to those under-the-table transactions that have become all too common in Boracay.
Not much information has been revealed so far, but the Provincial Government of Aklan and PisoPay—the financial technology firm behind the online system—are looking to launch the Boracay Tourist Pass by the first week of November.

Required tourist fees to enter Boracay
When visiting Boracay, tourists are required to pay several fees:
- Environmental fee - P150 for local tourists and P300 for foreign tourists for the maintenance and preservation of the island
- Terminal fee - P150 when arriving via Caticlan Jetty Port
- Transportation fee - P50 to P100 for the boat transfer from Caticlan to Boracay Island
These payments involve three separate queues, meaning you’ll have to line up three times. You’ll receive a specific proof of transaction after each payment: a receipt for the terminal fee, a stub for the environmental fee, and a ticket for the boat fee.
