LOOK: Marikina City Just Opened Their Own Public Dog Park

(SPOT.ph) There's one more reason to love Marikina City and it's especially true if you're a fur parent. Your four-legged children now have a dedicated space to run, jump, and zoomie to their heart’s content sans any extra fees.

Introducing, Paws @ Play Marikina Pet Park, the city’s newest outdoor haven designed for safe, tail-wagging fun. Whether your pup loves to socialize or needs a safe space to burn off energy, this new pet park is the place to be. Here's a look at Marikina's newest pet-friendly space.

Conveniently located beside the Marikina City Hall, this spacious, open-air park offers a secure corner in the city where your furry companions can play freely. This park is a great alternative to walking dogs along busy streets where you have to worry about sudden street chases or getting accidentally run over. 

Although it's outside, the play area is fenced and divided into two separate areas: one for big dogs and one for small dogs. There is no breed discrimination here. Whether it's a feisty chihuahua or an enthusiastic golden retriever, as long as they have four legs and a bark, they can play here. 

Beyond just open space, Paws @ Play has agility ramps, hoops, and tunnels to entertain your energetic furbabies. Benches are scattered around for pet parents to sit back and relax, all under the shade of trees perfect for those who need a break from the heat.

The park is open 24/7 with free entrance. Everyone is welcome to use the park. Just keep an eye on your pup as there are no on-site staff supervising, and bring your pup's vaccination records in case something happens. You might also want to bring plastic bags or newspapers to clean up after your pets.

Aside from giving the public a free pet park, the city is also doubling down on responsible pet ownership by offering free daily anti-rabies vaccinations across all barangays and pet registration services at the City Veterinary Office (CVO). This project was spearheaded by Mayor Marcy Teodoro and District 1 Representative, Maan Teodoro.
