Weekend Escape: The Bellevue Resort in Bohol

Luxury meets adventure at this five-star resort.

(SPOT.ph) Bohol might not be your immediate answer to days when you're itching for a little adventure, but The Bellevue Resort is determined to change your mind. The resort is a marriage of five-star luxury and island escape, giving tourists the best of both worlds.

The Bellevue Resort opened in Panglao Island in 2012, the first five-star resort at the time. From Tagbilaran Airport, it takes about 40 minutes to get there—perfect for a short nap before you get to the good stuff. Once there, you're immediately greeted by a stunning 250 meter-wide beachfront, punctuated with bright blue umbrellas by the shore. If you'd prefer to skip the sand between your toes, the resort also has an infinity pool that includes a kid's pool, an adult pool, and a dive pool.

The hotel offers spacious 155 rooms, including deluxe rooms and premier suites with picturesque views of the white sand beachfront. The 3.5 hectares of property also has a gym, a bar, a spa, a playroom for the kids, an al fresco function room, and the Pavilion Tent for special events.

For the sweet tooth

When it comes to food options, you can have your fill of international buffet and a la carte options at Lamian World Cuisine. If you want to dine al fresco, Marea offers international fare with a scenic view of the garden, poolside, and beach. However, the Bellevue Hotels' Food and Beverage Manager Keith Dominic Pereira encourages tourists to give the local Boholano cuisine a try.

Speaking of which, Bohol offers enough sights, history, and culture to warrant a tour around the friendly and hospitable island. Bellevue's tour desk is the result of a partnership with the local government, which gives tourists a glimpse at the Chocolate Hills and the rare tarsier, a leisurely cruise down the Loboc River, a visit to the popular Bohol Bee Farm, and a throwback to history at the Baclayon Church and the Blood Compact site.

Fancy a bike tour?

Choose among the following: vehicle rental (price depends on the type of vehicle and destination), a one-day countryside tour package, or a Panglao Island tour package. The latter two is best for large groups, and includes entrance fees, sight-seeing, pasalubong shopping, and a professional tour guide. The hotel also offers daily activities, including beach soccer, a game of frisbee by the shore, or you can even go for some watersports like jet-skiing, kayaking, and snorkeling in the pristine waters.
