Facebook Is Building a Community and Hotel IRL
You'll be able to check in, literally.
(SPOT.ph) You might have spent a good few years of your life playing Hotel City with your friends on Facebook. Well now, Facebook has taken the next step and announced that they will be building their very own "hotel city." This is part of their blueprint for the Willow Campus, a community complex located right across their main headquarters in Menlo Park, California.
With 56 acres at their disposal, Facebook is planning to build everything and anything a small town would need—from a grocery, retail stores, and even a pharmacy. The “mixed-use” village will be designed with Facebook employees in mind as it will primarily be used for their housing. But the units will also be open to non-employees.
While Willow Campus has yet to be approved by the city council, Facebook is expecting a go signal within two years. They aim to complete the first phase of the plan by 2021, while the whole complex might take a decade to finish.
