This B&B in Batangas May Be the Birthplace of Your Next Book
Escape from the city and write away.
(SPOT.ph) Living in the city can sometimes be so dull that your creativity seems to be losing its spark. Even great writers pack up their bags (and notebooks) and go out into the world in search of inspiration—J. K Rowling wrote Harry Potter aboard a plane, David Foster Wallace cruised in the Caribbean, and F. Scott Fitzgerald spent his summers by the French Riviera. You can do the same and finally complete the last chapter of your novel through Write Away, a writing and life coaching retreat from October 11 to 14 at the charming Casa Luminaria in Talisay, Batangas.
Surrounded by lush gardens and rows of trees, Casa Luminaria is a great venue for a much-needed lockdown. There's no WiFi and television, leaving you with no other choice but to actually write. (This is a writing retreat, after all.) But, don't worry—you can take a dip in the pool, go for a massage, have long walks, and feast on delicious Batangueño dishes in the course of the retreat.
Samantha Sotto and Mina Esguerra
Write Away 2018 will be facilitated by authors Samantha Sotto (Before Ever After, Love and Gravity) and Mina V. Esguerra (Fairy Tale Fail, That Kind of Guy) and Aurora M. Suarez, who will serve as your life coach. It is open to women writers, from 20 to 50 years old.
"I’m so excited about doing Write Away again this 2018," Aurora says. "Last year, we met a group of 12 amazing women writers. We’re looking forward to replicating those magical four days again this year. The most wonderful thing is that we’re still in touch with each other, sharing writing tips and cheering each other on."
Write Away 2018 is from October 11 to 14 at Casa Luminaria, Talisay, Batangas. Workshop fee is at P39,500 (but early birds can book for only P29,500 until May 15). For more information, visit Write Away's website.
